The book of Revelation to some people is alarming, confusing intimidating and even fictional. But actually, it is a book that all Christians should read, study, and know, because it is a book, which unveils and reveals future events of Jesus Christ at His return to establish His kingdom, which will be forever. But before the unveiling begins, Jesus addresses His church. He does so by speaking to seven churches that were in Asia about lovelessness, persecution, compromising, corruption, deadness, faithfulness and halfheartedness. So being a Christian is not easy. There are many things that can pull us away from our relationship with the Lord. Jesus addressed each situation by naming it and then giving direction on how to fix things. And then He gave promises to those who overcome these things, which try to pull us away from our relationship with Him. He says, “To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God,” “He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.”; “He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, … I will confess his name before My Father and before is angels.”; “He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God,… I will write on him the name of My God…”; “ To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne,…”
So listen folks, no matter how hard it may get , Jesus is there to help you overcome and promises you that it is all worth it!
Psalm 95:6 “Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.”
The word “worship” means to give homage to God. It is often demonstrated by bowing down or even to prostrate yourself on the ground. These are acts of respect and honor and a way of showing submission. But worship is more than location or posture, it is our heart. In John 4 a Samaritan woman is questioning Jesus as to who is right in their worship, the Samaritans who worship on Mount Gerizim or the Jews who worship in Jerusalem. And Jesus answered her saying, “…the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.” And we have the story of Mary and Martha in Luke 10 where Mary worshiped Jesus in Martha’s house sitting at Jesus’ feet. So it’s not the location or posture that counts, it’s the heart. So it is important for us when we come to church to come with a heart of respect and honor in submission to God who is worthy of our worship, because that is a heart of worship. And we must take the time out of our busy lives to stop and sit at the feet of Jesus like Mary did because Jesus said, “one thing is needed and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” And that one thing needed and chosen by Mary was worship! Please take the time to worship the Lord with all of your heart.
